Job Summary:
This position will report to the Director, Financial Reporting and Accounting and will work with other staff in a cooperative and collaborative team environment to achieve the Finance department’s objectives.
What you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Director, Financial Reporting and Accounting in contributing to company wide projects and finance-specific projects and initiatives.
- Supporting the accuracy, completeness, integrity and appropriateness of the company’s internal and external financial reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Supporting the monthly end close and financial reporting for assigned accounts, as required, through analytical review and reconciliation review.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of efficiency of Finance processes such as external audit process, month end close process, and day-to-day operational processes.
- Implementing and coordinating efficiencies in accounting routines and financial reporting processes on a project basis; collaborating with IT department
- Assists in the preparation of materials to be reported to shareholders on a timely and accurate basis.
- Preparing regulatory reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Preparing internal financial reporting reports to other departments
- Supporting the accuracy, completeness, integrity and appropriateness of the company’s internal and external financial reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Responsible for the update and management of procedure documentation relevant to the role.

Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s Degree (Business/Accounting/Finance preferred)
o Completed or working towards CPA designation
Work experience:
o 3 or more years of professional work experience in a Finance or Accounting role or Big 4 accounting firm, or equivalent experience
o Financial services industry experience

Skills & Abilities:
o Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail
o Good understanding of financial reporting processes/controls, financial planning & analysis and finance best practices
o Ability to understand accounting standards and their applicability to MCAN
o Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and financial reporting tools
o Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
o Excellent time management and organization skills
o Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing several tasks concurrently
o Self-driven, with the ability to work independently, taking leadership and ownership of processes
o Ability to effectively communicate with team members of all levels and respond to stakeholders’ needs and work collaboratively with others
· Additional Information:
o MCAN employees currently work remotely on a temporary basis due to COVID-19
o Upon return to working on premises, the company will offer flexibility regarding work-from-home arrangements.
