One-year full-time contract

 $19 - $21 per hour

If so, Science North, Northern Ontario’s most popular tourist attraction, is looking for you to join its’ Facility Operations team.

As a Senior Technical Assistant, you will be expected to supervise/direct facility operations' daily, monthly, and quarterly duties; establish priorities, and determine daily tasks for the facility operations team, under the supervision of Senior Manager, Facilities Operations. You will train and mentor junior staff and be able to effectively work independently. You will additionally operate effectively and efficiently as part of the Technical Support staff to provide labour duties and general support in all areas of Facility Operations.  Responsibilities include grounds keeping, snow removal, sweeping, removal of refuse, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining storage areas, basic repairs to equipment and moving, delivering, loading and unloading equipment and supplies, and assisting with special functions set ups. As a member of the Senior Technical Support staff, you will also assist with light facility infrastructure duties, including: minor repairs to furniture and fixtures, basic plumbing, such as clogs or small leaks, and assist in installation of offices and furniture, desks, partitions (using hand powered tools).

The successful candidate will have general labour experience, the ability to do heavy physical work including lifting, bending, and extended periods of walking and standing, as well as familiarity with basic tools and safety protocols. This position requires frequent driving for errands, deliveries, and movement between sites. The successful candidate must be able to be insured under Science North auto policy and must have a G-class drivers license, 3-year clean drivers abstract. This is a full-time weekday and weekend rotation position. Evening availability is required.
