Animal Health Partners and VetStrategy have collaborated to establish Lakeshore, our second AHP location. We are actively seeking skilled technicians to join our Neurology department. Lakeshore boasts similar amenities to our existing location but with an expanded footprint. About the Role: 

Our Candidates Require: 

  • To be Registered Veterinary Technician with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians 
  • Experience in neurology or special interest in neurology is an asset 
  • The ability to perform exceptionally well under pressure 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners 
  • A positive attitude, enthusiasm for the job, and a relentless drive to excel every day 
 

Skills and Effort Requirements: 

Under the guidance of the Neurology DVM, your duties will include: 

  • Assisting Doctors, Technicians and other personnel with the administration of medication, restraining dogs and cats for performing passive range of motion exercises of neurologically abnormal patients  
  • Ability to identify and report changes to technicians/doctor   
  • Assist team in setting up CT for an effortless transition between distinct areas in hospital  
  • Make sure cages and animals are properly identified and set within protocol   
  • Maintains a sterilized work space for all cages, runs and related areas  
  • Ability to walk dogs several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder  
  • Follow treatment orders on an electronic system (e.g., Ezyvet, VetRadar  
  • Work well as part of a team  
  • Wash, dry and organize towels and blankets   
  • Maintaining stock of materials within department  
  • Experience working with complex neurological cases including assisting in the set-up of stats  
  • Triaging emergency patients and history-taking 
  • Performing and submitting laboratory samples 
  • Administering oral, IM, IV medications 
  • Using independent judgment and initiative 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Participating as a cooperative team member 
  • Performing various treatments and diagnostics as directed 
  • Ability to multitask and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 
  • Other duties as assigned
