ERP Application Analyst

Job Summary

Walter Surface Technology is growing rapidly and is launching a major program to transform its ERP environment. The ERP Application Analyst is responsible for the analysis, development and implementation of major new functionalities to optimize our ERP system (Tecsys EliteSeries).

This role will have a good understanding of the business processes and operations. This individual will work closely with the business users to improve existing processes and to implement new functionalities and capabilities that will have a meaningful impact to the organisation. Working collaboratively, the ERP Application Analyst will leverage out-of-the-box software functionality where possible to develop new workflows, prototype new solutions, design, configure and develop new functionality and provide end user training on the new features and capabilities.

This person will also be in charge of providing maintenance and 2nd level support of existing systems and applications to our internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Create and/or prototype new procedures to enhance business processes, operations, and data flow.
• Uses Setup, Configuration, Personalization and prototyping in sandbox environments to evaluate and propose application level enhancements and to implement new features, functionalities, and capabilities.
• Performs a variety of tasks related to Application production support, including bug identification, program fixes and program documentation.
• Where required, uses his/her software development skills to write code modifications.
• Work collaboratively with IT Demand Management on Change Requests, managing issues and establishing priorities.
• When required, meet with users in their physical work environment to gain a thorough understanding of their needs and/or problem(s).
• Communicates software changes to consultants when developments require the intervention of external resources.
• Supports local and remote users by troubleshooting and resolving problems with applications and systems.
• Provides Level 2 application support and escalates to Level 3 where appropriate.
• Keep up to date with developments and news in their field and shares knowledge with team members.

Skills and abilities

• Possesses hands-on experience working in an applications support/development environment.
• Expertise in designing, developing, and implementing re-engineered business processes and associated software and hardware.
• Very good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in French and English, both in oral and written communication.
• Naturally curious and creative individual with a drive to find solutions to problems, and a passion for innovation.
• Ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize work, and adapt during pressured situations.

Knowledge

Must

• Experience in the distribution industry, with knowledge of supply chain and warehouse operations.
• Prior experience with one or more "ERP" systems and related applications in a distribution / supply chain environment.
• Experience with SQL statements and relational databases.
• Experience with Java or other object-oriented programming language.
• Experience with EDI implementations.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Tecsys ERP Software.
• Familiarity with the following tools: Jasper, XML, Web Services (SOAP).
• Knowledge of Oracle database.

Experience and education

• College Diploma in Computer Science management.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in business analysis, software configuration and development.
• Experience in Java programming.
